Unique
gift baskets are so much fun to receive. After all,
when you receive a unique gift basket, you are not just receiving
a gift, you are receiving and entertaining display of gifts. Some
of the most unique gift baskets are ones that follow certain themes
(and sometimes the recipient must guess this theme).
My favorite unique gift baskets are ones that are not technically
“baskets.” When it comes to finding or creating a unique
gift basket, consider not just the contents, but the container.
Here are some ideas for unique containers to make unique gift baskets:
Fireman's boot or hat. Fill this unique container with 5
alarm hot sauces, atomic fireballs, red hots, lighting stick, sparklers,
and anything else that is associated with fire.
Pinata. Cut off the top of a piñata and fill it with salsas,
maracas, tortilla chips, Mexican candies, and other fun items. A
piñata is the perfect container for a fiesta gift “basket.”
Gardening caddy. If you want to give a gardening gift “basket,”
consider presenting all of the supplies in a gardening caddy. The
container might as well be as useful as the contents!
Laundry basket. A laundry basket is not your ordinary sort of gift
“basket.” True, it is a basket, but there are so many
possibilities as to what you can fill it with! Fill it with laundry
detergent and other cleaning supplies and give it at a wedding shower.
You could also fill it with plush towels.
A baby bath. You can create a very unique gift basket if you use
a baby bath as the container. Place diapers, pacifiers, bibs, blankets,
or whatever other items you choose into a baby bath. Wrap it up
in cellophane, and put a big bow on it. Voila! You have created
an excellent gift. Again, there is no reason that the container
should not be just as useful as the contents.
Baby blanket. All right, so this gift idea is not really a gift
basket at all. Next time you have to attend a baby shower, though,
consider wrapping up whatever gift you give with a baby blanket.
There are few types of wrapping paper that are more useful! And
when you add a big bow, there are few types of wrapping paper that
can look more beautiful.
A cooler. A cooler can help you create unique gift baskets for the
Fourth of July. Fill the cooler with sodas and beers and tons of
snacks. Include a few fireworks and sparklers and Fourth of July
decorations.
A bag. You can fill a backpack with back-to-school supplies. Or
you can fill a purse with lip balm, makeup, and money, etc. You
could even fill a carry-on piece of luggage with great books, crossword
puzzles, snacks, cards, and other such items for someone who is
going to be traveling. Although a bag does not display the contents
quite as well as some of these other unique gift “baskets,”
it can be fun to try to put something in all of the pockets and
hidden compartments. Doing so makes the bag much more fun to open.
