Last minute Christmas gifts are by far the hardest to buy. Of course, they are not just difficult to buy because you do not know what to give, but because you are surrounded by thousands of other people who do not know what to give buy are buying tons of stuff anyhow! Sometimes, by the time you figure out what sort of last minute Christmas gifts to give, the shelves have already been emptied of them!

The easiest way to avoid having to give last minute Christmas gifts is to buy them in advance. Of course, this is so much easier said than done. Who really finishes their Christmas shopping in November? Sure, you might pick out a few things, but you still have many more people and many more gifts that you need to buy come the end of December.

Lucky for you, I have gone ahead and compiled a list of some of my favorite last minute Christmas gifts. Believe you me, I have had to reference this list one time too many!

· Subscription to a magazine
· Tickets to a sporting event
· Gift certificate to a restaurant
· Tickets to a play/symphony/musical/opera
· Bath and body supplies
· Cheese of the month club
· Stuffed animal of the month club (for a baby or a dog!)
· Cooking utensils
· Gift certificate to a clothing store
· Book or gift certificate to a bookstore
· Wine bottle (or champagne, whiskey, etc.)
· Gift basket full of gourmet foods
· Tickets to a ski resort
· Video games
· CD (or, better yet, an mp3 player!)
· Gift certificate to a coffee shop
· A box of oranges or grapefruit (they taste amazingly good around Christmastime)
· New skis, new sled, new helmet for a snowmobile, etc.
· A planned vacation to somewhere sunny!
· A gift certificate to a car wash (winter can be hard on your car, especially if your city uses salt on the roads)
· Christmas tree ornament
· Chocolate! (Chocolate has always been a favorite last minute Christmas gift of mine)

These are only a few possibilities of last minute Christmas gifts. They are all very easy to get and pick up. To make these last minute Christmas gifts feel like they required a lot of forethought, include a thoughtful card that states exactly why you think the recipient will like the gift, or write something like, “When I saw this, I thought of you!” Good luck beating the rush!
