So
you need some last minute birthday gift ideas. Do not worry, I am
not here to judge you, but might I suggest you start using a calendar?
If you always check your calendar and write in it important birthdays,
you are much less likely to need any last minute birthday gift ideas!
Of course, as I well know, there are many different reasons why
a person might need last minute birthday gift ideas. Perhaps you
procrastinate (this is my problem!) or perhaps you were too busy.
Perhaps, you were not even planning on giving the person a gift
until the last minute or you did not even realize it was his birthday!
What ever your reason for needing them, here are some great last
minute birthday gift ideas:
Tickets to a sporting event. Be sure to pick a sport that the recipient
actually enjoys! If you have a little extra time, include with the
tickets a football (for a football game) or an over-the-door basketball
hoop (for a basketball game), etc. You could include Big League
bubble gum for a baseball game. The trick is to make the gift not
seem like it was just a last minute birthday gift idea – include
an extra token to imply that you did put some thought behind it!
Tickets to a play, the symphony, an opera, etc. Again, try to think
of something that the recipient will especially enjoy. The tickets
do not have to be for a play on the night of the birthday person.
In fact, the tickets can be for an event that is months away! Flowers
make an excellent addition to this gift – after all, does
the cast of a play not receive flowers at the end of a show? Place
the tickets directly in the bouquet.
A cooking lesson. Do not worry, giving the gift of a cooking lesson
does not necessarily imply that the person cannot cook! Check with
local specialty grocery stores like Wild Oats or kitchenwares stores
like Bon Appetit to for some single night classes. The great thing
about these classes is that you get to eat whatever gourmet food
you cook! You can pair with this a spatula or anything that is specific
to the particular type of cooking class that you are planning on.
No one would ever suspect that this is a last minute birthday gift
idea!
A book or a gift certificate to a bookstore. There are few people
who do not love books! Even people that simply use books as a doorstop
would still appreciate a gift certificate to a bookstore. After
all, many bookstores have magazines and other items, as well. Pair
with this gift a bookmark or a gift certificate to a nearby coffee
shop.
A magazine subscription. This last minute birthday gift idea need
not take you any further than your local grocery store. Go to the
magazine aisle, skim through the magazines until you find one that
you think the recipient might like, buy it, and then fill out the
little card for a subscription! Wrap up the magazine you bought
and attach a note that explains that there will be more where this
one came from. You may be tempted to buy some candy and other items
from the grocery store to throw in with this gift, but that may
not be such a good idea. It may emphasize the fact that you just
went to the grocery store to buy it!
