The
most inexpensive
gift baskets are the ones that you make yourself! Of
course, there are also some very inexpensive gift baskets that you
can find online. You can check out some of the sales that some gift
basket websites offer.
It is perfectly understandable that many of us do not have the
time or energy to come up with our own ideas for inexpensive gift
baskets that we can make ourselves. To help you out, though, I am
going to share with you some of my favorite ideas for inexpensive
gift baskets.
First of all, to make sure that your gift is, indeed, inexpensive,
you need to know where to shop. I can find all sorts of great baskets
and other containers at flea markets, second-hand stores, and yard
sales. There is absolutely no reason to go out and buy a new basket!
For other items, I usually start out at a dollar store. Let me
remind you, though, that inexpensive gift baskets are not the same
as “cheap” gift baskets. In other words, it is still
possible to find high quality items that cost less to put in your
basket. There are many excellent bargains at a dollar store, but
there are also many “cheap” items that you want to avoid.
Here are some ideas for inexpensive gift baskets:
Movie Time – It is possible to find discounted movie tickets
(if you are a member of AAA, etc., you can often get such benefits).
Buy two movie tickets to a local theater, pair them with a bag of
microwaveable popcorn, and some candy. Buy candy from your grocery
store when it is three for a dollar!
Summer Fun – This inexpensive gift basket is great for both
kids and adults! At a dollar store, you are likely able to find
a sand pail and shovel. You can fill this with a sunblock, a blow-up
beach ball (another dollar store find), bottled water, and a beach
towel.
Hiking Dayzz – You can buy a good wide-mouthed water bottle,
like a Nalgene bottle, and fill it with small snacks (like a small
bag of trail mix, gum, “fun size” candy bars, etc.).
Include some waterproof matches, a compass, and a whistle!
Bathtime Basket – It is not necessary to go to the Bath supplies
shop at your local mall. Yes, they do have some great stuff, but
it is hard to create an inexpensive gift basket with it! Rather,
head to your grocery store or dollar store. Fill a bucket or a shower
caddy with shampoo and conditioner, soap, a loofah, body wash, a
wash cloth, a scented candle, etc. This is a perfect gift for anyone
going away to college.
Dinnertime Gift Basket – Instead of paying someone extra money
to put together an Italian food basket, create your own! Pick up
your favorite jar of spaghetti sauce and some packaged pasta. Add
some canned or jarred olives, and some Italian chocolate candies.
As you can see, there are many different possibilities for inexpensive
gift baskets, these are just a few ideas. Be creative and have fun!
