Do you need to come up with some great gifts for a birthday? It can be extremely difficult to think of especially great gifts for a birthday, but there is not need to worry – read on and you will find some wonderful gifts for a birthday.

Here are a few gifts for a birthday that you should always have on hand. That way, you do not have to worry about shopping at the last minute, and you will always have something prepared:

• Bath and body supplies. Yes, it may seem that bath and body supplies have become a bit too popular to give as gifts over the years, but this is only because people like to receive them. You can feel pretty safe giving bath and body supplies as birthday gifts, because, after all, everyone bathes. Have a few different scents on hand. You can group 5 scented hand lotions, or you can go with one scent and get multiple items like bath gel, shampoo, lotion, etc. Whatever you do, you still want to make the gift seem personal… you do not want the person to know that it has been sitting in your closet, waiting for the birthday of anyone! What I usually do is I find an inexpensive, small wooden crate and I will paint it solidly white. Then, once I find out who the lucky person is that will receive my gift of bath and body supplies, I will paint his or her name onto the front of the box (I usually use acrylic paint, and cover it with a gloss), then I will arrange the bath and body supplies in the crate with Easter grass or shredded newspaper to raise them up a bit, and then I will wrap the whole gift up in cellophane and add a large bow!
• Gift certificates. You can be sure that gift certificates always make great gifts for a birthday. I have a drawer of my home filled with gift certificates of varying amounts (and, every once in a while, I actually use one for myself!). I have found discounted movie tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, gift cards to bookstores and coffee shops, and more! I have enough of a variety of gift certificates that it is pretty easy to pick out the perfect one for the birthday of anyone. To personalize these gifts for a birthday, I usually pair some movie candy or microwaveable popcorn with the movie tickets, and I am certain to include a great card with all of the certificates. In the card, I will generally say exactly why I chose that particular gift certificate for that person… “I love this restaurant and I think you will, too.” “You two need a break: I'll watch the kids whenever you want to use this gift certificate.” “I know how much you love to read during the summer months. Pick out a good one!”
• Books. I think that there are few things that I love to give out more than books. I have a load of great children's books on hand for any baby shower or child's birthday party that I attend. I have some travel books, hardbound novels, photo books, art books, books on golf courses, joke books, and other books that are just waiting to be given out as gifts for a birthday. Of course, my supreme favorite sort of books to give as gifts for a birthday are cookbooks. I have a particular favorite vegetarian cookbook that I love to give. To make it more personal, I will usually bookmark a particular recipe that I think the birthday person will like, and then I go out and buy a few of the ingredients (usually spices) or utensils that are needed for the recipe, and I will wrap them up along with the cookbook.
