Besides
the actual product, the most important gift basket supplies are
the actual baskets. Keep in mind, though, that you do not have to
use baskets. Instead, you might want to use tins, boxes, buckets,
crates, or other containers.
Use a container that best matches what sort of gift basket you
are making. For instance, a country gift basket may look best in
a picnic basket, a gardening gift basket is well suited to an old
wooden too box or a bucket, a baby gift basket can all be put into
a baby bath.
If all else fails, though, a basic wicker basket is still a great
choice. As far as gift basket supplies go, though, your basket is
the most important (aside from the actual product). I know that
I said this already, but it is an important point to stress.
And one of the most important factors about your basket or other
container is its size. The way that your gift is displayed relies
greatly upon the size of your gift basket. If the basket is too
big, your gift looks dwarfed and meaningless and like a lot less
than it is. If the basket is too small, your gift looks ridiculous
and over-stuffed, bulging out the edges.
Another important gift basket supply, besides the basket, is packing
materials. Packing materials that you use do not just protect your
gift during transit, they also help improve the presentation.
You can add extra packing materials around the back edge of your
container or in the middle so that certain items are taller than
others and so that you can see all of the products in the basket
all at once.
There are a great deal of different packing materials that you
can use. You can use straw, paper shreds (you can even shred up
your own newspaper, Easter grass, and many other materials. Again,
pick a material that best suits the items in your gift basket.
Other gift basket supplies include decorative materials. Sure,
you may think that the gift itself is decorative enough, but other
decorative materials can most definitely enhance the overall look.
Would a paper rose improve the look? How about a bell?
Other important gift basket supplies are cellophane and/or shrink-wrap.
Colored cellophane can really add some zeal to your gift, but, sometimes,
basic clear cellophane best shows off the gift. Shrink-wrap can
be great, especially if the gift is going to have to travel via
the mail system. Sometimes, cellophane can crinkle and look much
less pretty when it comes out the other end of the mail system.
You also need to include in your list of gift basket supplies bows
and cards. There are many beautiful ribbons available that you can
choose from. You can find ribbon that would beautiful with a baby
gift basket, sophisticated wine gift basket, humorous gift basket,
fruit gift basket, or any other basket that you may create.
Lastly, but certainly not least, is the actual product that you
are going to put into your basket. This is, most definitely, the
most important gift basket supply of all. Try to think of something
that you are already passionate about.
Perhaps you are a wine connoisseur. If so, you should be able to
pick out some fabulous wines and pair them with great cheeses or
fruits, etc. Or, perhaps, you are a mother of four and you know,
like no one else knows, exactly what should go into a baby shower
gift basket.
