Coffee
and tea gifts are more than just tasty ways to say
“thank you,” “congratulations,” or “happy
holidays.” Coffee and tea gifts are actually a way to promote
good health, as well!
Many people only hear about the health risks associated with coffee,
or they concentrate on how you can become addicted to the caffeine
or how coffee might stain your teeth. Perhaps these other things
are true, but there are definite benefits to coffee, as well…
there are definitely good reasons to give coffee and tea gifts:
- Some research has shown that coffee may have anti-cancer properties.
It seems that coffee drinkers are around 50% less likely to get
liver cancer than nondrinkers. Some studies show that they have
less chance of getting breast, colon, and rectal cancers, as well.
- Similarly, a heavy coffee drinker may be 50% less likely to
get type 2 diabetes as nondrinkers or even light drinkers. Drinking
coffee as a habit can also increase your resting metabolism which
can help prevent diabetes.
- Some of said that coffee can increase your risk for high blood
pressure over time, but there are newer studies that dispute this.
More studies must be done to get any hard facts.
- It seems that male coffee drinkers are protected against parkinson's
disease. Why not women? Perhaps this is because both estrogen
and caffeine require the same enzymes to be metabolized, and estrogen
wins and uses them.
- Also, some studies show that coffee can reduce the risk of
developing gallstones (discouraging colon cancer).
- It can improve cognitive function.
- It can reduce liver damage.
- The key to making coffee work in your favor is moderation.
Do not drink 5 cups a day! And coffee will have its best effect
on you if you drink small amounts every hour, or so, if you are
using it to stay alert.
Well, now you have seen some of the health benefits of coffee in
coffee and tea gifts, what about the benefits of tea?
- There is research that shows that tea drinkers have lower rates
of heart disease and cancer.
- Tea may promote healthy bones in mature women.
- Many believe that the cultivation of tea promotes long life.
- Green tea is commonly used and thought to prevent disease.
- Some studies show that tea boosts the immune function of skin
cells which protects them against the damaging effects of the
sun.
- Realize, though, that the antioxidant levels of common teas
vary greatly. You must be careful when picking out green tea gifts
if you want them to have optimum health benefits.
- Green tea especially seems to have vast health benefits, too
numerous to recount.
- The antioxidants in tea can lower cholesterol levels and improve
cardiovascular health.
· Some even say that the flavenoids in tea can inhibit
the growth of plaque on teeth.
As you can see, coffee and tea gifts are not simply gifts of fine
taste, they are gifts of fine health, as well. Of course, more studies
must be done to find out exactly how coffee and tea promote good
health. Also, be aware that nothing is good for you in excess!
So, why not promote the health of a friend or family member by
giving them a coffee and tea gift?
