Care
packages can work well for many occasions. Here are
a few ideas about care packages that can help you decide what kind
of care packages are appropriate for the situation.
· College care packages:
o As I mentioned above, care packages for college students are
a great idea. A student will need lots of things, so depending on
the situation, and the student's particular needs at that
time, you can choose a great care package for him or her.
For example:
o Clothes:
A lot of college students will need warmer clothes when the temperature
gets colder and warmer clothes when the weather becomes hot. And
whether you send new clothes or their used clothes from home, they
will appreciate the extra space they can use instead of keeping
all of their clothes in a dorm room.
o Food:
Most importantly, students want good, nostalgic home-baked food.
or some of the foods that the family really enjoys together.
For example:
If the student misses sitting around with the family munching on
cheese and crackers, consider that it might be a nice touch to include
an assortment of cheeses and crackers in his or her care packages.
Or perhaps the student wants better fruits and veggies than they
sell in the school cafeteria, why not send a fruit basket as a care
package?
o Supplies:
There are many more items that can be included in student care
packages, such as school supplies, desks, laptops and more.
· New baby care packages:
o Even if mom and dad or legal guardians are stocked with baby-care
merchandise, they will still use it up and need more. So care packages
for families with new babies are a great idea.
For example:
Get a little basket with baby wipes and lotions, a few toys and
teething rings, clothes and socks or shoes that fit perfect or some
that are a little bit too big, because they will grow up and fit
into them fast. Trust me.
· Sympathy care packages:
o As a tragic time is passing in someone's life, whether
it be a death of someone very close to him or her, or if he or she
is very ill—it does not matter. Sympathy care packages are
a way to show that you care and you share their sadness, or hurting
or concerns, whatever the circumstances may be.
§ If you have a friend in the hospital for something severe,
care packages may not be any kind of cure—but they sure can
make the person feel better.
Some examples:
Teddy bears and get-well balloons, for instance can make great
items for care packages.
Of course, check with the doctor first, but candies, sweets or
other of the person's favorite foods can be included in care
packages.
Then there are blankets, better pillows, and other items to make
him or her more comfortable that are perfect for hospital care packages.
And one other idea is to send care packages that have stuff for
the person to do in them. Things like books, paper and pencils,
markers, sketchpads, hand-held video games etc. make great care
package items.
There are, I am sure, many other kinds of care packages for people
in different situations than those I have mentioned. However, they
are a sincere gesture of genuine concern or sorrow. Care packages
will show the receiver that you care much more than words will.
A brief for instance:
I am sure that a new widow gets tired of hearing “I am sorry
for your loss,” but people don't really know what to
say. Instead of trying to verbalize your sympathy, purchase care
packages for these kinds of situations.
