Why not step away from tradition when considering which bridesmaid gifts to buy? Why give the basic jewelry or key chain? Sure, these items can be fine bridesmaid gifts, but why not give your best friends something that they will really want?

Also, generally, brides give all of their bridesmaid gifts the exact same thing. Again, this is fine. But why not give each bridesmaid something she specifically will enjoy? Of course, if you decide to do this, try to keep your price range the same for each bridesmaid, excepting the maid of honor.

• A spa gift set. Include any and all items that you think will help your bridesmaids relax after their big day.
• A gift certificate for a massage or manicure.
• A framed photo of you two as kids.
• Jewelry (both to wear at your wedding and to cherish afterward)
• Homemade jewelry
• Homemade jam
• A bottle of champagne

If you are having trouble thinking of good bridesmaid gifts, stop thinking, “What would make a great bridesmaid gift?” And start thinking, “What would she most like?”

Remember, after all that your bridesmaids have done for you -- both in preparation for the wedding and throughout your entire life -- they deserve good bridesmaid gifts. This does not mean that you have to spend a ton of money on them. It does, however, mean you should put a lot of thought into the bridesmaids gifts that you give.
