Breakfast
gift baskets can be given for practically any occasion.
Give a breakfast gift basket to your mother on Mother's Day
so that she can experience breakfast in bed. Give a breakfast gift
basket to a newlywed couple, because you know that they are not
going to want to have to venture out of the hotel room just to eat!
There are many possibilities as to items that you can include in
breakfast gift baskets. Here are some of my favorite edible items
to include:
- Marmalade, jams, jellies, and preserves. I prefer ones that
are 100% fruit juice sweetened. Include a variety.
- Maple syrup. Go with the good stuff: get Vermont maple syrup
or syrup from Canada.
- Honey
- Pancake mix. I like the Amazing Pancake Mix by Local Harvest.
It is a great blend of whole wheat flour and cornmeal. Another
favorite pancake mix of mine is the Farmer Brothers buttermilk
pancake mix.
- Scone mix. Try the Sticky Fingers Bakery Scone Mix… just
add water and bake! It comes in many different flavors.
- Muffin mix. Jiffy still makes some of my absolute favorite
muffin mixes.
- Fresh baked items. Mixes are good to give if you do not know
when the recipient will be able to eat the breakfast gift basket
items. After all, mixes have a much longer shelf life than fresh
muffins, etc. Nonetheless, fresh muffins and other items can be
quite a treat!
- Coffee. There is nothing quite like a morning breakfast brew!
- Tea. Include herbal as well as regular tea in your breakfast
gift basket.
- Granola. Granola is a yummy treat, any time of the day.
Not everything in your breakfast gift basket needs to be edible.
Here are some ideas of non-edible items to include:
- A personal waffle maker.
- Teacups or coffee mugs.
- A whisk
- An egg timer
- Heart-shaped pancake shaper
- Breakfast tray
- Flowers
- Egg poacher
- A “cereal box prize”
- Egg peeler
The important thing when putting together a breakfast gift basket
is to have fun, and to consider what the recipient would really
appreciate. |
