there is a woman in your life whom you care a great deal for –
a mother, wife, sister, friend – then it you know how it is
oftentimes difficult to find birthday gifts for her. One might think
that it would be simple to find birthday gifts for her because you
know her and love her so much. Of course, this explanation does
not take into account that you want to give her nothing but the
best, than any birthday gifts for her that you buy must be gifts
that she will always cherish.

Mother
What can you give to a mother? There is certainly nothing in the
world that you can give her that will even come close to comparing
with all that that she has given you, right? This may be true, but
in the case of a mother, it really is true that it is the thought
that counts. When you are thinking of birthday gifts for her, think
long and hard. Be sure that you put a lot of thought into whatever
you give her.
Think about what she likes to do and what she does not like to
do. Do not try to pass off a gift that could be given to just anybody.
Give a gift that she alone will love. You can go to a place like
Color Me Mine and paint a mug for her. Think of her favorite poem
and paint it onto a plate. Find a photo of your mother holding you
as a baby and have it framed. Include a poem about mothers. Make
dinner for your mother (and be sure to clean up afterwards, as well)
then take her to see a play that she would love.
Wife
First of all, do not give your wife a vacuum cleaner or any other
cleaning supplies or cooking supplies – these are not the
best birthday gifts for her. Sure, she may really want that new
vacuum, but do not give it to her for her birthday! Surprise her
with it on another day. Go out and buy it together – after
all, it will not just be her to use these supplies, right?
Cooking supplies are alright if, indeed, she loves to cook. If,
on the other hand, you give her a pasta maker because you want to
eat pasta every night, then it is not ok. Gardening supplies are
also good gifts – if she likes to garden. Otherwise, stay
away from them.
This does not mean that you are left with the three options of
jewelry, flowers, or perfume. You can still be creative in your
ideas of birthday gifts for her. If you do decide to give jewelry,
find a unique piece that has her birthstone. Or, give her a piece
of jewelry that contains the birthstones of your kids. Another idea,
if your wife is creative, is to sign her up for a jewelry-making
class. If you give flowers, consider giving potted flowers instead
of cut ones. Paint the terra cotta pot. Perfume might be the perfect
gift for some women, but for others, it really shows a lack of thought.
Sister and/or friend
A sister and a friend is someone who will stick by you and has
stuck by you in all of your times of need. When you think of birthday
gifts for her, think of things that really show how much you love
her. You do not always need to spend a ton of money on your friend
or your sister. You just need to think of a gift that she will appreciate.
Gather up some of your favorite photographs of the two of you together
and put them in a photo album for her. Add comments about the stories
behind certain photos. Take her out for the day on a sort of “date”
to the zoo, the museum, a play, a movie, lunch, dinner, or whatever.
Make it a photo date and develop the photos together. The main thing
when you are trying to think of birthday gifts for a sister or friend
is to plan a fun time for the two of you (or to remember the fun
times that you have had.
