Before
you go out and buy some baby Christmas gifts, first realize for
whom those baby Christmas gifts are really for: the parents. To
be quite honest, the baby could care less whether or not she receives
any baby Christmas gifts. In fact, the baby does not yet even understand
what Christmas is.
Yes, a baby may enjoy Christmas and all of the festivities, and
a baby certainly enjoys playing with new things, but a baby also
enjoys playing with a cardboard box, right? So, again, it is important
to remember for whom baby Christmas presents are really for!
Parents do not want to receive baby Christmas gifts that cause
them more havoc and more stress than they have already felt coping
with the joys and stresses of having a baby. In other words, if
you give them a toy that is made up of 12 pieces that have to be
put together, the parents are not going to fully appreciate it!
If you do want to give the parents a stroller or another item that
must be assembled, go ahead and assemble it, first! You can be sure
that the parents will appreciate the effort almost as much as they
appreciate the gift itself.
Also, although the baby might look cute in that frilly, button-up
dress with the snap on collar and the mini gloves, a parent is never
going to have to want to dress (or undress the baby in it). And
remember, if there is not easy diaper access, it is not a good outfit!
Instead, consider giving simple clothing items for baby Christmas
gifts. You can be sure that a few onesies will be far more appreciated
than that frilly dress. Remember, if it snaps or Velcros, it is
probably good. If it buttons or ties, though, you might want to
consider giving something else.
Another sort of baby Christmas gift that parents are not going
to absolutely love is anything that sings or beeps. Sure, that stuffed
animal that dances and sings is cute… at first. But after
having to listen to it for hours on end, a parent can only pray
for the batteries to die.
Instead, give a soft and cuddly teddy bear that does not make noise!
Or, a mobile that plays a soft song like “Twinkle, Twinkle
Little Star” makes a good gift. This is something that the
parent has control over turning on and off.
Other baby Christmas gifts that parents may like are ones that
are meant to make their lives easier. Simply offering to babysit
is an excellent gift! Of course, other great gifts include baby
monitors and safety gates. More diapers are always helpful, as well.
Again, remember that when you are shopping for baby Christmas gifts,
you are actually shopping for gifts for the parent, too. Be sure
to keep both the parent and baby in mind when shopping for Christmas
presents for babies.
